An Exciting Trip to Beale Street
So you’ve just gotten into town and are only staying for a few days on business (bummer!) but you’ve got a few hours of free time in between meetings. What can you do to get the most out of that time? First stop, Beale Street! If you’re staying with a friend here at The Meadows, it is just 15 miles away.
The Beale Street Historic District is where it’s at in downtown Memphis. It was a favorite stop for legends like W.C. Handy, Rufus Thomas, B.B. King, and Isaac Hayes, and why not? There are three blocks of specialty shops, night clubs, galleries, and restaurants!
There are over 25 clubs and shops you can peek into for a daiquiri, some ribs and, of course, some great blues music. You can also visit a fortune teller, browse the art galleries, and pick up a touristy t-shirt to remember your trip. Just don’t wear it to your meetings, k?
Here are a few places to check out on your travels:
Alfred’s Bar & Grill on Beale
BB King’s Blues Club
Hard Rock Café
New Daisy Theatre
Mr. Handy’s Blues Hall
So how ‘bout it? What are you the most excited about seeing when you get to Beale Street?
