Memphis is particularly beautiful this time of year.  It’s not only the weather and consistent blend of blues and barbecue, but it’s also the time of year that the Memphis in May celebration kicks off.

The 2011 Memphis in May celebration kicks off with the Beale Street Music Festival April 29 to May 1.  With pop superstars such as Ke$ha, Jason Mraz, MGMT, and B.o.B. joining the likes of legends Stone Temple Pilots, Flaming Lips, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Wilco on the stage this year, this year’s Beale Street Music Festival is sure to be one for the ages!  The festival takes place in Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis and not on Beale Street itself, so take note if you plan on attending.

After the music festival, there is an International Salute to Belgium, Barbecue Cooking Contest, Sunset Symphony, and Educational Program following in the month of May.
