Whether you’re a fan of contemporary art or you “just don’t get it,” that’s OK because The Dixon has got a show for you. July 31 through October 16, The Dixon will be showcasing the work of Daniel Tacker, a Memphis native, in a show called “The City Loves You.”

Through his art, Tacker demonstrates his skills in graphic design, along with his keen eye for commercialism and materialism. In his artist statement, Tacker communicates that every day our eyes are bombarded with images of consumerism and that we live in a world of instant gratification which permeates everything we do. He seeks to create a cross-blend of digital and analog and the high-tech and organic, in his vibrantly colorful acrylic paintings.

In “The City Loves You” he embraces the dichotomy between the rural and urban and uses media such as graphic design, ink, pen, marker, aerosol and acrylic paint.
