Memphis in May BBQ Has Moved Locations

More barbecue than you'll be able to handle!

For the first time, the annual Memphis in May BBQ has been moved from Tom Lee Park.  The move is happening because of the recent severe weather (floods and tornadoes) and the park is in no shape to handle an event like this.

But, don’t fret; the organizers have just announced that this World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest will move to Tiger Land at the old fairgrounds in Midtown. Other than the change of venue, things will remain the same – the festival will still happen from Thursday, May 12th through Saturday, May 14th. There will still be teams and booths. There will still be lots of barbecue and the Miss Piggy Idol contest will go on.  In the words of the event promoters:

Memphis is Cookin’ – Come Hell or High Water!

Tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Tickets will also be sold at the north and south gates at Tom Lee Park.

Ticket Prices:

  • Online Single Day: $7 in advance
  • Single Day Ticket: $8 at gate
  • People’s Choice: $5
  • Children 6 and under: Free

This is the premier event in Memphis – if not the WORLD – for barbecue food!  If you’re new to Memphis or have never attended in the past, we hope you can make it out this year!  It’s a guaranteed deliciously good time!
