I just watched this trailer Splice and I have to admit that I was a little horrified.  Not often does a movie give me the chills, and for that reason alone I have to feature it as part of my Summer Movie Preview series.

Splice hits the big screen on June 4.  If haven’t heard about it yet, I’ll let Yahoo.com give you the breakdown…

When two young geneticists begin splicing human DNA with that of various animals to develop a new species, they gain instant fame. As their egos inflate and their project takes on new meaning, they begin to ignore society’s rules… along with the law. In doing so, they create a beautiful mutant named “Dren,” who also happens to be a deadly human-chimera.

Do you know what a chimera is by any chance?  I didn’t either, but watch this trailer and it should give you an idea.  Very creepy.  Another note: Splice’s director, Vincenzo Natali, is responsible for writing and directing 1997′s “Cube,” which happens to be one of the greatest psychological thrillers of all time.  Can’t wait!
